I was called to be an Elder back in the early 90's after Pastor Bibler left KOG.  I am a lifelong Lutheran and have been a member here since 1991.  I have been employed in the grocery business for almost 40 years and looking forward to retirement.  Tammy and I have been married for 38 years and have 2 daughters,  Baleigh and Corbin, both will be married this year.  I look forward to serving here at KOG as long as I can.

Why am I an elder: As an Elder, it is important to be the Church from a ministry perspective. I take this role very seriously and enjoy helping other folks find their way through the Church. I am proud to be a servant of Christ with the opportunity to serve His meal to others.

Who am I: You should know….. I have been a member of King of Glory for over 25 years. I lived in South Elgin for 38 years with my wife of 38 years and raised our two wonderful daughters in the community as well as in the Church. We are the caregivers to Comfort Dog Julia, one of King of Glory’s outreach ministries. I enjoy time with friends and family, travel, lawn mowing, bourbon, beer, and a good cigar.

Why is KOG important: King of Glory has been our home church for many years. We enjoy the fact that this is a very friendly, non-assuming church which follows the bible as our guide for life. We strive to be a beacon of hope to all those around us, locally and internationally.

Why I am an elder: What really kept me involved is the opportunity for spiritual growth and the family atmosphere of the congregation.  The more I grew in faith, the more I was looking for opportunities to serve.  One of those opportunities was becoming one of the elders of the church.  I also serve as the veteran handler on our comfort dog team and as the chairperson for the board of properties.

Who I am: I am married to my wife Miekka and we have 2 kids. Miekka works as the Office Manager at King of Glory. My daughter Brianna works as an Environmental Engineer for the Illinois EPA office. My son Brandon is working on his master’s degree in accounting and his CPA at NIU.

Why we chose KOG: When we moved to South Elgin in 2002, we were looking for a new church home that fits what we were both used to.  My wife grew up in a more traditional Lutheran church, and I grew up in a more contemporary Baptist church.  King of Glory fit both of these, it kept to the traditional aspects but offered contemporary songs through the worship band.

I have been a Lutheran since birth and have been an elder for over 25 years. Career wise, I spent 32 years with Sears in the tower and in the Hoffman Estates HQ. For the past 8 years, I have owned an insurance agency serving our area. I also have been involved with the Scouting program for over 25 years serving our youth. Service is how we share our faith and serving as an elder is an incredible privilege and one I am thankful for everyday. My number is available for anyone at anytime if needed.

I love the feeling of family! I enjoy being an Elder. I am humbled to be able to participate in the worship service, assist the pastor, and serve our congregation.
I have met so many wonderful people through KOG. When you walk through the doors, you feel welcomed and immediately at home!

I became an Elder because the opportunity to serve the Lord and our congregation, as an elder, is an honor and a privilege.
Bio: I am born and raised in Chicago. I have been a life-long Lutheran. I worked in the commercial printing pressman for 40 years. I married Janice in 1984 and helped raise two stepsons. After the boys went out on their own, Janice converted so we could worship together. When we moved to South Elgin we were introduced to King of Glory. We have been members for almost twenty-five years.
We consider everyone here to be family.
